About Me: I am a fashion design student from Leicestershire, currently studying BA Hons fashion design at Nottingham Trent University. After receiving Bs and over in all of my GCSE's, including an A* in Textiles, i knew that the fashion industry was where i saw my future. From here i did a BTEC Level 3 in Fashion at NWHC receiving D*D*D* grades propelling me with the design, pattern cutting and manufacture skills to do a Degree in fashion design at NTU from 2020-2023. In my personal life i love crafts and art, either admiring art at a museum, knitting or selling handmade jewellery and accessories online -my whole life revolves around creative processes. I am also an avid fantasy reader, when i'm not spending important time with my family and friends.
Key Topics In My Work: Sustainability: As a designer a topic that is really important to me is sustainability. I have received my sustainability in practice award which is a certificate i did alongside my studies at NTU in 2020/2021. Doing this short course taught me how to be a conscious designer not just in the fashion industry but through my personal life too. Through my projects i also keep sustainability as a key theme, i believe that sustainability is a non-negotiable topic and will therefore always be something im looking out for to improve in all my work and strive to be an eco-friendly designer.
Plus Size Inclusive Fashion: As a plus-size person i have always wanted to design thoughtfully and provide size inclusive options. Recently plus-size clothing has been a key theme in my work, both through the Crisis X LNF X GFW competition - that i won, but also my FMP. I think it's important for me to create garments that reflect me as a professional designer. As this is a topic im personally affected by and passionate about it has been a focus through my FMP project to create a plus-size collection seperate from the rest of my peers. This has been a tricky process, from creating that differently sized garments to providing models for fittings, its shown me that the fashion industry needs more work in this area and intend to keep trying to improve it myself as much as possible.
